I got back from a weekend trip to San Francisco where we had initially booked a chain hotel, then at the last minute I noticed a great deal at Cornell Hotel de France and switched my booking (literally at the airport) and I was so happy I did! This place feels like a French family-run hotel, probably because it is, just transported to San Francisco. It's clean, quaint, and very homey, with helpful staff. If you book direct they include a continental breakfast (served prepackaged for covid safety) and there are some great deals (I got 50% off my second night). The location worked out great for us and while we didn't have a car, it sounded like they had decent rates with a nearby garage. I really enjoyed my stay and felt like it was a great value so I thought I'd pass along the recommendation for anyone who might be interested!
