Looking for recommendations and reviews tours of Robben Island tours,
I am seeing lots of complaints in reviews about long lines and disorganized logistics.
Is it worth it to do a “skip the line” tour?
Any other advice is appreciated,
Thanks!
Eva
Just a heads up, I had a reservation for a tour of Robben Island in March 2025. I got to the terminal in the V&A and found out that the boats were all cancelled for that day, no explanation why. In line for a refund I met a man who said that had been cancelled the day before also. He said they were not well organized and often cancel the tours. I was disappointed, but since I was leaving Capetown the next day there was nothing I could do. I got a full refund. I hear it's a very moving tour but be prepared for possible problems.
Thanks,
I’ve seen several negative reviews of specific companies. I appreciate the heads up.
Do you happen to remember who you booked your tour with? Hope you got a refund!
Much appreciated,
Eva
The cancellations for Robben Island are often due to adverse weather conditions, as the water becomes choppy . Individuals are told of this when booking tickets. You can book the tickets through the Robben Island Museum: https://robbenisland.plankton.mobi/
Per the terms and conditions of a booking, Robben Island Museum reserves the right to cancel voyages or to change departure times without notice. Simply purchase a ticket from the Museum and follow the instructions and you shouldn't have an issue.
Thanks so much!
Those tickets are much cheaper than from Viator.
