Rebecca, this is a European forum and you may not find many who have knowledge of Morocco. I would suggest CHATGPT or a good guide book.

Rebecca, Your question is valid here on the Beyond Europe subheading. Putting Morroco in the above search bar and filtering for "forum" and one year or less might get you some info. However, it will probably be a bit sparse. Try Trip Advisor's travel forum.

Mine were selected by the tour company- each incredible. Staying inside the various medina's walls was a more immersive and memorable experience of Morocco. That said, I know they can vary considerably so I would look for recent reviews.
Also, if traveling on your own keep in mind you may need to navigate with luggage, so you likely want to be towards an outer entrance than farther inside.
Have a wonderful trip!

I'll tell you the two we stayed at and would recommend:

  • Marrakech: Riad les Oliviers and Spa. In the medina, near a gate. Nice rooftop pool and restaurant. https://www.riadlesoliviers.com/en
  • Fes: Riad Jean Claude. Our favourite riad in all Morocco. Just metres outside the medina, so can be accessed by car/taxi. Behind the wall of the riad is an oasis and pool. Nice breakfast. Friendly host Jean Claude is an expat Français. http://www.riadjeanclaude.com/
