Rick’s Cafe, Morocco

Hi, has anyone visited Rick’s Cafe recently? Was it super-crowded? Is there a souvenir shop? Thanks!

Consider checking out the cantina at Moss Eisley instead, Leave your droids outside, though.

I can only speak for the outside which was packed. I was in a small group tour in Morocco last October with only a half day in Casablanca to visit the Hassan II Mosque. Rick’s Cafe was not on our itinerary, but a couple on the tour were huge fans of the movie. So our driver made a very quick stop there on the way to the Mosque since we had time.

Our group of 14 got out and there were so many tours out in front. The couple got a photo/video then we took a photo of our group. And that was all.

I have no idea what’s inside but know it is a popular spot.

It is only a replica of the bar in the film, albeit a very impressive one, which was not actually filmed in Casablanca

I think the reply above about the Star Wars cantina is joking, but you actually can visit it. It’s in Tatouine, Tunisia, where the movie was filmed. It wasn’t very lively when I was there, though.

I knew that, and our guide said lots of people who visit don't. Our guide has been inside and said food was disappointing and pricey but it is a beautiful ambience and they did a great job replicating the one in the movie set. I have no idea if they have a gift shop since it works just as a bar and restaurant.

We docked in Casablanca while on a cruise and the only thing we saw there worth seeing was a huge Mosque.
Frankly, I would skip that city and do Marrakesh, Fes and Rabat.

Our tour only had a half day in Casablanca and only to visit the Mosque. After that I was dropped at the Casablanca airport and a few went back to Marrakesh. I think vising the Mosque was worth it, in my opinion. I honestly would have skipped Rabat if I could.

Our tour covered several cities: Marrakesh, Alto Atlas, Ouarzazate, Dades Gorges, Merzouga Desert, Zizi/Azrou Valley on the drive to Fes, Chefchaouen, Rabat and Casablanca.
