Has anyone paid by wire to stay at La Maison Blanche in Tangier? They are asking us to pay by wire. All of the communication seems legit. I confirmed the phone number and email address is what's listed on their website. The gentleman I've been in contact with is Aziz (listed as the owner on the website). It just strikes me as a bit odd that they don't take credit cards (I asked) and take either cash upon arrival or wire transfer. Just curious someone else's experience. Thanks!

I will join in geovagriffith’s unsolicited advice that Tangier is not a desirable destination. I’ve heard it referred to as the “Tijuana” of Morocco. However, to get back to your question, it is becoming more common for proprietor’s of small businesses to accept cc’s; but it is still not unusual for them to operate on a cash only basis. There is a cost involved for them to accept cc’s for payment.

@Rosalyn - Thank you for the information. I appreciate your response being both more polite and informative than the other. I am going to visit a great friend who moved to Tangier awhile back. From her experience, the country has worked hard to clean up Tangier over the past few years. Using common sense safety measures, she and her family have really been enjoying living and working there. Thank you.
