Restaurant recommendations in Shibuya area of Tokyo

Interested in any recommendations folks might have for Shibuya. I love sushi but my son does not so we probably won't be going to places that are Sushi only (much to my disappointment). Other than that, willing to try just about anything. We will be staying in a hotel to the east of the train tracks and slightly south of the Shibuya Station area.

Also, looking for breakfast recommendations - out hotel does not have a breakfast. We may have to rely on convenience stores.

This is an excellent question for your hotel's concierge. You can find a nearby restaurant serving just about any kind of cuisine you can think of. You only have to ask and they will bend over backwards to help you.

Shibuya is absolutely packed with restaurants. You’ll find plenty there. Keep in mind that in a dense neighborhood like that, not all restaurants are at street level. Many will be on upper floors of buildings and some will be in basements. There’s a chicken place in the basement of the Seibu Department Store, for example, where I had a great casual meal.

For breakfast, try Komeda Coffee. It’s a chain that does simple breakfasts with the purchase of a drink and you can add on inexpensive items to make a larger breakfast. I’m also partial to Mr. Donuts, but that might be nostalgia rather than actual quality.

For breakfast in that area you could consider Cafe Veloce, Tully's Coffee or Doutor. All have good items and are good value as well. I tend to prefer Cafe Veloce but they are all good. Not sure if there is a Excelsior Cafe in that area but they also offer a nice inexpensive set breakfast.
