Recent Frontier Airlines flights?

I am taking my daughter and niece to Florida. I have no problems packing minimally and can make the girls do the same.
Has anyone flown frontier recently? The threads I find her about five years old. Will they allow a school size backpack for a personal item? It is substantially cheaper to fly them versus anybody else. That is, of course, if we don’t pay for carry-ons or checking luggage.
I suppose we could always share one checked piece as well, if need be, to avoid paying for all of us.

My kids have. Last trips no problems but they seem to be delayed more than most. My daughter flew down for her grandfathers funeral on Delta because of that but flew back on Frontier.

Measure your personal item. They have a reputation of making people put them into sizers. A school backpack though should be fine. My son checked a bag and it was misplaced for hours. I wouldn’t check.

It’s a direct/non-stop, so at least if it’s delayed, we won’t miss a connection.
And I haven’t had luck with most any airline I’ve flown in the last year or so so being on time😂

It has been fairly inconvenient of late. On a Sunday mid-day, leaving Atlanta, plane delayed, delayed, delayed and finally cancelled. Next available flight Monday mid-day. No help with hotel, meals etc... Monday, delayed, delayed, delayed. Having already missed a day of work, bought a ticket for early Monday evening on Delta to get home. Flight finally left around 1am. at which time the Delta flight had already landed. Basically the same thing happened summer before last. Note that these are not weather delays - just Frontier problems.

I would say Frontier is fine if you have a place to stay for free on either end and you don't have anything important to be on time for. Just remember that they are not going to help you in any way if your flight gets cancelled and plan accordingly.

To build on what Tigerfan said, it might be helpful to check the flight schedule to find out how many flights Frontier usually schedules per day or week to your destination. It may help predict when you’d actually be rebooked for if your original flight gets cancelled. I’ve noticed some discount airlines might only fly to certain destinations a few times a week, or just once per day. Even if they put you on the ‘next available flight’ it may not be until the next day or for a couple of days.
