Question about Private israel tour guides

I have a question in any advice is appreciated.I'm looking to go to israel on a protestant christian tour, i've gotten ahold of a private tour guide who is charging me one price per day for Jerusalem? And I know that the tour in Galilee, I have to pay his rooms, but now he is telling me the per price per day Tours in Galilee are double the price for Jerusalem, is not normal.?

Hi, this is just my opinion coming from a place of understanding guide pricing and their time. I have no specific knowledge of guide pricing in Jerusalem.

If the guide lives in or near Jerusalem, you're paying for X hours of their day which sets an according price. If you're taking the guide with you to other cities to the point that hotels are involved, you're not just paying for X hours, you're paying for 24 hours of their time. It doesn't matter if they only 'work' X hours of that day, you're paying for their loss of (24-X) hours from their personal time - with family, friends, for errands, etc.

Double the day rate to go beyond where they live does not seem excessive. If a standard work day is 8 hours, that's 1/3 of a day. Aka, it wouldn't be unfair to charge you triple, but perhaps they 'only' charge double because you're already covering where they'll sleep (for ~8 hours).

Webmaster, you hit the nail on its head. Who of us would accept pay for 8 hours work when we are tied to our employer for 16 or 24 hours? Well-explained!
