Traveling to Quebec City late February. Spending one night in the Ice Hotel and 2 or 3 additional nights in the city. Does anyone recommend a B&B over hotel? Wondering if we will want to do a walking tour of Quebec City that time of year or enclosed bus tour? Also, I'd love to try dog sledding. Any suggestions regarding that? What else might we 'need' to do while in the city?
I once visited Quebec city in February and quite enjoyed walking. There was snow on the ground, but not a lot of active snow or wind. I understood that temperatures had been much colder the week before my visit. So weather is variable and unpredictable.
This year's winter carnival runs the first two weeks of February so you will miss it, too bad for such a great party but maybe helping you find hotel accommodations more easily. Here is the program site if you want to get a taste of how Quebec City defies the severe winter elements to have fun http://carnaval.qc.ca/en/
Only there once, but I would be surprised if there was any enclosed bus tour. The old city is very small, the streets narrow, and the fort being the only real tourist attraction you can visit. It is beautiful, and regardless of weather, the old town area needs to be walked to appreciate.
