Does your cruise include an overnight, or do you depart the night you embark? If more time there on the cruise, I might suggest a short road trip prior to embarking, or if train schedule isn't onerous, do an overnight in Montreal if you like museum or art galleries. They also have a beautiful botanical garden. For me, QC (as it is sometimes refered to) only needs 2 easy days...but I am not a shopper. Quebec old town is the biggest draw. It might help boning up a bit on Canadian history for the city. Plains of Abraham was a definitive battle....or at least one that reached glory in the history books. A beautiful promenade walk from there to where the cruise ships berth. It is a hilly town, so be aware of that. That time of October can be beautiful. Perhaps, due to the hot summer, leaves will have started to change colour. If so, perhaps a day trip out?
