First trip to Egypt. Want a one day private tour of the Giza pyramids for four adults. There are so many companies to choose from that seem to offer similar tours. Has anyone had recent experience with tour companies in Egypt, particularly the pyramids that you would recommend? Appreciate any feedback. Conversely, did you go with a company that ended up being a disappointment? If so, why? Thanks.
We visited the pyramids in November as part of a Viking tour. You don’t need a guide. Take an Uber to spend as much time as you want in the area. Be prepared to be constantly approached by people who want to take your photo, sell you stuff, offer rides on a camel, etc. There are YouTube videos of people visiting the pyramids independently. Also check out the Lonely Planet book about visiting Egypt. Many people get guides through ToursBylocals and of course Viator.
I did an independent trip to Egypt in May 2025. Before my trip - I was in contact with Hoda Ahmed in Cairo. She agreed to guide us in Cairo - she was so amazing and helpful. She ended up connecting us with guides the rest of our trip. Her company is www.egyptdaytrips.com. I like to travel not on tours - but we were so greatful to have guides with us wherever we went in Egypt.
Thanks so much for the info!
