Private Tour Vancouver

We are three older first-time visitors to Vancouver. Two of us cannot walk long distances. We are looking for a tour guide with transportation for a full day tour of the city so we can see as much as possible.

Private small tours are not very common here compared to other destinations. May I suggest enquiring ahead via your hotel? Destination Vancouver is the tourist info site. The tours listed on their website seem to be for larger groups and handled in some instances by Viator.

Hi Betty,

I did a Google search and came across the website Cool Destination that offers "The Best Vancouver Activities for Seniors and Over 50s". Looks like there are tours of Gastown, Stanley Park, North Vancouver Shipyards, Whistler, etc. Some tours include hotel pick up. The cancellation policy is 24 hours before start of tour. Their tours are advertised as senior friendly and may be worth checking out.

Our opinion is that Vancouver is really an “active” city. Suggest you do some research on what you would like to see and do, then reach out to your hotel and see if they can suggest a private driver for at least a partial day to see those sights.

Stanley Park, Granville Island, are a couple of our favorites but require some walking.

Are you leaving on a cruise out of Vancouver? Perhaps the cruise line might have some easy itineraries.

Good luck! We love Vancouver!

Betty, can you all handle public transportation? I know of some fun sights to see that are easily accessed with little walking.

Plan #1 Start at Waterfront Station ( next to Canada Place) and take the SeaBus across the harbor to Lonsdale Quay. A fun and scenic ride. Walk through the station to the bus transfer area. Take bus 236. This will take you to Grouse Mountain Skyride. You can take the skyride up for a beautiful view of the area. You can walk a short distance around the top and then come back and retrace your steps. Depending on how "adventuresome" you are all feeling, the Capilano Suspension Bridge Park is also accessed off of this bus line.

Plan#2 Start at Waterfront Station, take the Expo Line to Main Street/Science World Station. Walk across the street to the waterfront. Catch one of the water taxis (they are super cute and fun to ride) and take it to Granville Island. You will pass the former Olympic Village and several interesting buildings on the way. At Granville Island explore shops and restaurants as much as you like. Grab a seat if you need a rest. Return can be by retracing your steps or grabbing a bus.

Plan #3 Stanley Park
Simply call a taxi or Uber to take you here so that you end up in the park where you really want to go (zoo or aquarium).
