3 days first week of Oct. in PEI - any suggested activities for a 70 year old couple? Easy hikes ok but nothing over a couple of miles
Thanks
You could go to Celtic Colors, a Celtic/Irish/ Scottish music festival. It's on Cape Breton Island, which is some 250 miles east of Prince Edward Island. The event is held in early October.
It's supposed to be a great event. I know about it because I love Irish music, but have never been to Celtic Colors.
Here is information: https://celtic-colours.com/
You can explore the Confederation Trail, visit Charlottetown, relax on one of PEI's many beaches or visit the Anne of Green Gables Heritage Place and Museum. Don't forget to check out local fairs and pumpkin festivals too! If you prefer easy hikes, Homestead Trail at Prince Edward Island National Park. It's just 1.5 kilometers long and takes you through the forest and along the coast with beautiful views of the Gulf of St. Lawrence and North Shore sand dunes. There are also resting areas along the way with benches. Enjoy your stay!
Not to rain on anyone's parade, but Cape Breton is a 5-6 hour drive from PEI. That's a pretty big detour for someone who wants to explore PEI,.
There's no lack of music events on the Island. Also, the Culinary Festival runs the first 2 weeks of October. Green Gables seems to be on just about everyone's must see list. Have a look at the official PEI tourism website: https://www.tourismpei.com/what-to-do/events
And don't forget to stop at COWS for some of the best ice cream in the Maritimes.
