planning a trip to South Korea

My wife and I are planning a trip to Daegu, South Korea to visit our son (serving in the US Army) and his family. We are seasoned travelers who are comfortable traveling outside of the USA. However, we have never been anywhere in Asia and are looking forward to our trip. We plan to fly in and our of Seoul (Incheon) and take the trains to Daegu.

While we're in the country we'd like to take a multi-day guided/escorted tour to see the sites outside of Seoul and Daegu.

Has anyone here done anything similar? I'm primarily looking for ideas and/or suggestions for tour companies (ideally like a Rick Steves tour) but would very much appreciate any suggestions for touring the country as well as sights that are a "must see.".

Thanks in advance,
Rich

Your best bet will be to have your son check with the ITT (Information, Tickets and Travel) office on the base where he's stationed. They'll have a variety of single day and multi day excursions that are probably just what you have in mind. Acting as your sponsor, he can sign you up for anything that may be of interest to you.
One popular day trip from Seoul is up to the DMZ. It fills up early, however, and so needs to be booked well in advance.
