Patagonia

Hello! We are trying to plan a 10-ish day trip to Patagonia in February. I'd love to hear about any must-see hikes, sights, or tour companies that you loved. Thank you in advance.

I visited Patagonia with Overseas Adventure Travel (OAT) in 2017. Here's their itinerary:

I did both the pre- and post-trip extensions (Santiago/Easter Island and Iguazu Falls). It was an absolutely spectacular trip. But it's significantly longer than ten days. Without the extensions, it's 18 days.

For me the highlight was Torres del Paine National Park. We did a few day hikes only. There are some excellent multi-day hikes as well.

Bariloche and the surrounding area are also gorgeous. And I loved the area around Puerto Varas. We hiked on Osorno Volcano, but had to cut it short because it was snowing hard and blowing (in November). The same day we visited Petrohue Rapids -- also stunning.

We also visited Perito Moreno Glacier in Los Glaciares National Park. It's very impressive, but I've also seen glaciers in Alaska and Norway, so for me it wasn't as thrilling as for some of the others on the tour.

You will love Patagonia! Let me know if you have any other questions.

We did this hiking-focused tour with MT Sobek in 2017 and loved it.

It includes the famous W multi-day trek, plus day hikes on other days. The scenery is fantastic, and the quality of the food and lodging was very high. There were only nine of us on the tour, with 2 guides and a driver the whole time. They were professional but also lots of fun.

This is my favorite of the lodges where we stayed (we had 3 nights here, for two full days of hiking in the Fitz Roy area):

The tour covers both Chile and Argentina. I was really glad to have the guides for the border crossing, as the two countries are not all that friendly with one another. A friend who went on an independent trip had a very long delay at the border crossing and was afraid of being turned back, although there was nothing wrong with her documents.
