How long did it take the government to process your passport?
It can take anywhere from a few weeks to 3/4 months. I have found when I renew my passport in the Fall, I have gotten back 3/4 weeks later.
If you need it faster than that you can get it expedited faster- go to the nearest passport agency site- examples- Seattle, San Francisco, Los Angeles. You’ll pay more for that service, but you can get it the same day or within 24 hours. My husband had to do that when he lost his passport.
Good luck
My kids got their first-time passports summer of 2017. They were in my mailbox within 3 weeks of turning in the applications.
I received my renewal (mailed in the same day the kids’ were turned in to the town clerk’s office) within the same week.
I believe if you go online they give an estimate. It is likely in the range of 4-6 weeks, a renewal, less. Several years ago after you were required to have a passport for air travel to Canada, Mexico and most of the Caribbean, wait times went way up, but that is long gone.
Need it in less, pay for expedite or go in person.
Three people in my family in three different cities all had to renew this fall. It took each of them 3-4 weeks.
