painful visa process for Kenya

I finished about 95% of the visa application for Kenya, but the end required uploading three photos with a limit of JEPG uploads of 293kg.

I covered the photos to JEPG, but it didn't work, perhaps too much kg.

suggestions on what to do?

Do all 3 photos have to go at the same time?

Can you diminish the resolution? ( either when you take the photo, or through some editing process?)

Is this the site you are using? https://evisa.go.ke/single-entry-visa.html ( I am not sure if this is the official site, but it is what I found)

It shows : Attachments

During the application process, you will be required to attach the following documents. The file formats that may be attached are PDF, JPG, or Microsoft word.

Have you tried using pdf format and scanning whatever it is at the lowest resolution possible?

My son reviewed my JEPG photos and said he doesn't think they are too much kg.

Perhaps it is something else. I went to Walgreens, got a passport photo with digital copy sent it to the Kenya visa application, it failed.

I am running out of what to do.

On a Mac, click on the picture so it comes up as a preview. Then select "Tools" in the top bar. In the pull down menu, select "adjust size." The window that comes up will show you how many pixels it is by length and width. Change the length to 700, and the width will adjust automatically. I just did this for my Kenya visa :)

Do you know a local photographer or friend who uses Lightroom/Photoshop who could help you downsize the photos? Or someone in a local photo club proficient with editing software? Or perhaps a local camera store who might be able to help you out? I hope you find the help you need.

I did the size reduction to 700 pixels and instead of being rejected with "network error," it said "The file size should not exceed 293KB."

A computer expert is coming to my home to fix the problem on Monday.

I will probably spend a couple of hundred dollars just to upload a few photos, ridiculous.

joe,
When you get to the last page of the application, you are asked to upload three documents.
1)passport photo- after rejecting my own photo, I went out and acquired new passport photos (they provided me with a digital copy), the application site rejected the NEW passport photo. I did what another poster suggested, by reducing the pixels to 700 and it didn't say network error but reminded me of the 293 kg limit. I hired a computer expert to help me and will probably spend at least $200 getting this done.
2) photo of cover of passport. I took a photo and tried to upload it to the application, "network error."
3) photo of data page of passport. same result as #2

Another Kenyan e-visa question.

I have kept the e-visa application open on my computer for three days. If I close it out, will the document go away or be saved for me to come back and finish it?

I don’t think there are many folks on this forum that would have first hand and recent experience to answer your question. My guess is that it wouldn’t save. When I went to east Africa my entry point was Uganda and thankfully I did not have issues getting the online visa authorization. Good luck on getting the visa.

Does the East African visa cover Tanzania now?

Geo, we just had to go through this as well. Our Tanzania visa process went smoothly, yes we did have to reduce size of photos quite a bit. My husband used the paint program on our PC.

However the Uganda visa was a royal &$@#!
I ended up having our tour operator help us. She contacted the Uganda people and got it straightened out for us. The online visa program would not accept one of my photos for some reason.

I suggest you contact your safari operator to help you. No need to spend that amount of money getting this resolved.

I found private visa acquisition companies that offer to take care of this e-visa application.

It is called iVisa
iVisa was founded in 2012 on Harvard Business School's campus. Two friends, Sergio and David, were attending Harvard while pursuing their MBAs, and became the founders of iVisa. They both love to travel and would discuss the frustrations of trying to deal with government offices and heaps of paperwork that felt like a waste of time when they were trying to focus on their growing families. They wanted a streamlined process that allowed them to travel freely while avoiding lengthy forms or journeys to foreign embassies. Thus, iVisa was formed. Tens of thousands of customers have been using iVisa ever since and find their processes to be a breeze.

They charge $110 to process the visa.

Success,
A friend of my helped me by working with my Walgreen's passport photo and I successfully uploaded it to my application.

Now, just waiting for visa approval.
Thanks for all your tips.
