I'm looking at flying back to California from Bordeaux on Royal Air Maroc now that they offer full pods in business class. Great airfare, BTW.
The airline allows passengers to extend their layover for a day or two, and I'm thinking one day as an introduction to the city and to Morocco. I need ideas for places to go and a good hotel. Looking forward to everyone's ideas!
Casablanca is a modern and not very interesting city, in my view.
The Hassan 11 mosque is worth a visit.
The Hyatt Regency is a short walk from the old town/medina.
Great plan! As from my previous experience, the Hassan II Mosque is a must, one of the largest mosques in the world, right on the Atlantic, with incredible tilework. Well worth the guided tour. Afterward, stroll the Corniche for a coffee or lunch with ocean views.
For hotels, I'd go with either the Four Seasons Casablanca, right on the Corniche with gorgeous views, or the Casablanca Marriott, which has a great central location near the old town and markets. Both are solid choices for a one-night stopover.
One day is plenty to get a real taste of the city. Enjoy the pods!
Thank you for your ideas! Unfortunately I discovered that staying over brought with it some downsides I didn't want to live with. Another year!
The only thing worth seeing in Casablanca is the huge mosque.
If you go to Morocco, visit Marrakesh, Fes, or Rabat.
