Old Quebec Hotel

I know this forum is mainly for Europe, but folks here seem to be knowledgeable about all destinations. I was hoping to get a recommendation for hotels that are conveniently located in Old Quebec City. My husband and I are looking into going in late August-September. Good restaurants, and good walking are things we appreciate.

We stayed at the Hotel Manoir Victoria. We found it was with an easy walking distance of the attractions. But I recall that there were only stairs from the front entrance to the lobby. Chez Boulay is downstairs, and my son still raves that it was the best steak he ever had. There was a nice pastry/coffee shop (Paillard)across the street, but I see that is temporarily closed at this time, according to Google Maps.

I stayed at Auberge Place D'Armes, across the street from the boardwalk and one block from the Chateau Frontenac. Rooms were lovely and they had a nice little restaurant with good breakfasts. (Downside: no elevator, several floors.) You can take the funicular from the boardwalk to Lower Town where there are several good restaurants, including Bistro St-Malo.

I think that no elevator takes it out of consideration. Been there, done that in Europe, and the time has come to take it easier. Thanks for taking the time to reply.

We have been to old Quebec 2x and stayed at the Hilton. It is just outside the wall and literally a 5 minute walk to get inside the walls. We always drive to Quebec and there is parking on site. And elevators.
I hope by the time you go Pillards is open, they have the best pastries outside of Paris.

For something unique, consider Le Monastère des Augustines, which dates back to the 1600s when it was a hospital run by the Augustinian sisters: https://monastere.ca/en/rooms/ My mother visited with a friend a few years ago and loved it so much that she never stops recommending it. They have wellness options but many guests are just there with the "Monastic" option (room, breakfast, and an included tour of the museum).

Thank you everyone for all your suggestions. I knew I would get the help I needed here. I’m sure one of the suggestions will be what we select.

I was in Quebec last year in the fall, a magical time when the weather was still mild, but there were fewer tourists.
When we stayed at the Hotel Clarendon, everything was close by: a short walk to the Château Frontenac, coffee shops, and even a small book market. The atmosphere is old, but very romantic
