I’m planning on spending New years in Sydney with my husband. I was very excited to watch the fireworks but am getting a little overwhelmed reading about having to queue early in the morning and wait at a park all day just to see them. I’d like to see them, but I don’t have to have a perfect view. I’d rather enjoy walking around Sydney than sitting in a spot all day. Does anybody have any insight on somewhere we can see them if we show up later in the evening after dinner? Thanks!
@Kendall. No, I do not. On 1st January 1901 Australia became an independent nation with political authority transferred to the federal bi-cameral parliament.
So not just new years day to us. Sydney siders do like to picnic early and select their best spots to party away this special summer’s night.
https://sydneyexpert.com/new-years-eve-cruise/ Options for a cruise dinner and view. Have not done any of these for this occasion. Some of us are lucky enough to have good mates with big yachts, and from the water is a good spot. TV does it for the rest of those who live in Sydney and for those of us who live elsewhere.
There is also usually a 9pm fireworks, broadcast nationally for the children so they do not miss out as most will drop of to sleep before midnight.
Good luck with your quest.
