Niagara on the Lake

We will be returning to NOTL after more than a decade away. We'll be on a 2 week family trip with the grandparents, daughter, son-in-law and two young (under 5) kids. I know we'll be biking, walking the "Main Drag" (is it King? or Queen St.), attending plays at the Shaw Festival, and visiting wineries. I've noticed that many of our old favorite restaurants are no longer in business (and what happened to that great place at the local college?!!!). So, any recommendations for current wineries and eateries? We love farm-to-table, hate "tweezer" food. We'll visit restaurants with kids, and without them, so suggestions for "date night" places as well as family-friendly places are needed. Are there any places out towards St. Catherines that are worth a trip? We're from Boston, and have plenty of excellent ethnic (especially Italian, Asian and Mexican) around home. But we love German/Eastern European food, Quebecois, French, etc.

Thanks in advance!

We went in 2018 after ten years away and were sadly disappointed in the plays. The restaurant we enjoyed the most was an Asian one, but we also missed those that had departed. I guess you really “can’t go home again”

Hope this reply isn't too late- but I would visit Mahtay Cafe & Lounge in St Catherines

If you are venturing into Niagara Falls, the only thing I recommend there is the "journey behind the falls"
