I see must have a NZETA visa to stay for a few weeks. When I try to apply it says I cannot apply before 24 hours of entering the country. But it also says it takes 72 hours to process. Confused?
You need to apply for the NZETA early as it can take time to be approved that’s why they recommend 72 hours. You also need to complete a separate declaration before arrival that you can not start before 24 hours. They are two different forms.
How do I k ow it was approved. I do not see a declaration page.
You need to first apply for the NZETA. Once your application is approved you are notified. I downloaded the app and applied through the app; I got the approval notification in the app a few days later. Below is the website for the NZETA
https://nzeta.immigration.govt.nz/
There is also a declaration to fill out just before you arrive. I just filled out the paper declaration when I arrived.
And apparently the cost (it has a name) is going up from $35 to $100 in October, plus the application fee.
One more thing … I just checked and I also got an email notification. i got the first one confirming that my NZeta request had been received. Two days later, I got an email indicating the NZETA had been issued. You pay two fees. It was 17 NZD for the NZETA and 35 NZD for the ”International Visitor Conservation and Tourism Levy” when I applied earlier this year.
I don't know what I am doing wrong. All I have received is a reference number.
I suspect you have tried the wrong site. NZETA is the Visa, NZTD is the declaration to be filled out within 24hrs. Both have apps (2 different apps).
I think you may have solved my mystery. I will try in the morning. Thank you so much!
Got it! Your help was exactly what I needed.
Great! Enjoy NZ, we are going in 2 months!
