We are looking for a New York City hotel in the Upper West Side probably, and hopefully a pleasant mile or less walk from the Metropolitan Museum. We hope for something $400 or less a night if that happens in that area. Also a quiet and friendly atmosphere.
Thanks!
If you would like to stay on Upper West Side and walk to the Met which is on the Upper East Side then the hotels just across Central Park would be good. There is the Wallace, Lucerne, Bellecaire, Beacon, Arthouse. I can't recommend any of them personally but all would be a good location.

Great location. Suites have a kitchen.
Take a Look at the Franklin Hotel on E.87th St. Not the Upper West Side but the Upper East Side. It's on a fairly residential street but a block from restaurants, shops, the subway and a Whole Foods.
The Met is less than a 15 minute walk.
I've never stayed there but I know people who have and like it. I know the area because my cousin lives a couple of blocks away.
One of the best hotdog stands in NYC is nearby...Papaya King. 86th and Third Ave.
I’ve stayed at the Lucerne many times pre-pandemic, and I have friends who like the Beacon. They still have good reviews on booking.com, so I wouldn’t hesitate to try either one.
