I'm leaving tomorrow morning from Duluth and driving to Cincinnati. I'm spending the night on the road and Rockford, IL is the halfway point. However, because I would REALLY like to avoid Chicago traffic on Monday morning, I'm thinking of going past Rockford and finding some place south of there (towards Gary, where I will then head down 65) to spend the night. Then get up and continue onto my destination on Monday morning.
Can anyway suggest a place between the Schaumburg area and Gary (preferably closer to Gary, although I don't know that want to go that far) that has some decent hotels that are not too far off the interstate? I've driven this route a lot but I usually skip Chicago entirely and detour through Champaign and Bloomington to avoid Chicago traffic. But I figure that since it's Sunday, I'll probably be okay.
