Morocco

I haven't done a tour with an in-country tour agency. I have done Morocco with G Adventures/National Geographic. It was an incredible experience.

Look at Overseas Adventure Travel. It's based in Boston, but your guide on the ground will be Moroccan, and you'll meet families in
their homes (including nomads in their tents), go camping in the Sahara, eat local food, have many off-the-beaten-track adventures. Group travel, but max size is 16. Highly recommended. Even if this isn't "it," look at the itinerary for ideas.

We used Friendly Planet this past March and it was top drawer-guide-hotels all 4 or 5 star-food and excursions. You'll be pleased.

We had great pleasure traveling with Around Morocco Tours in 2011. Lachen Boujouija, the owner, met us at the Ferry in Tangier and spent 10 days showing us this exotic country and culture. There is no middle man and each tour can be organized to meet your needs. Our 10 days, although a tour, was not a group ....it was my husband and myself with Lachen.
