Taking my family, youngest is 19, to Montreal for a Pre-Christmas trip. Any suggestions on must do's, must see's and great places to eat. We love ice skating, tubing in the snow, Christmas Villages, Theater, Museums, Skiing and Old Beautiful Places!!! We went to Quebec City last Christmas and loved it.
You can get lots of ideas and info at the Montreal Tourism website. You can ice skate on Beaver Lake on Mount Royal. I have no idea what "tubing in the snow" means but as of today, there is little snow in the Montreal area. Christmas Villages are beyond my ken, theatre is mostly French, if that matters. Montreal Museum of Fine Art is a world class museum and worth your time. It is in the centre of downtown, the Golden Square Mile actually. You would need to go up into the Laurentian mountains for ski-ing, only 90 minutes or so away. The "old beautiful places" can be found mostly in Old Montreal, where there are museums, churches and some of the best restaurants in North America.
Since you are doing your research at the very last minute, use the Internet to find forums dealing specifically with the city. Steves' specialty is Europe; others such as Frommers and Fodor and Lonely Planet include destination info for Montreal.
