Booked a trip to Mexico City for mid-September. Seeking a historical type hotel with character in the central part of the city. Appreciate your recommendations and any other input on the trip.
In 2019 I stayed at Historico Central near the Zocalo. It was a lovely stay. Lots to eat at breakfast, a snack bar in the lobby, room was large. Lots of restaurants in the area, and good access to public transportation. Everyone was incredibly helpful.
I don't know how historic the building is, but the Hampton Inn on 5 de Febrero was a cost-effective option for us a couple of years ago. It's located about two blocks from the Zocalo and within an easy walk to Palacio Buenas Artes, the subway, and most of the other attractions in the city center.
Thanks Pam S and Robert!
The Red Tree House
It's been awhile but I've stayed twice at the Hotel Gillow in the Centro Historico, between the Zocalo and Alameda, close to restaurants and subway, clean and comfortable with a good breakfast. I liked it fine.
Thanks for the additional recommendations!
