Mexico City between Christmas and New Year's

My husband, 14 yo son, and I are planning to visit CDMX during these dates. Should we be aware of any closures during this week due to the holidays that would make us think twice about visiting then?

Though there may be individual closures of smaller businesses and/or restaurants on Christmas day, most (if not all) of the major attractions are open year round, and day tours (out to the pyramids of Teotihuacan for example) will be operating without interruption ... even on Christmas day itself.
Probably best to pick up a copy of one of the many guidebooks that are out there, which will be your more definitive source of up to date information regarding possible holiday closures. Stop by your local book store (or library) to peruse the various options before committing to a particular format.

I think you'll find that everything is open and the streets are full of people. The gift-giving part of Christmas happens after 12/25 in Mexico, so lots of people will be shopping. Also lots of Mexican tourists visiting their capital city. When we went that week some years back, some of the streets in the historic center were closed to vehicles. We were surprised at all the crowds but it was kinda fun too.
