Lodging in San Miguel De Allende

I am wondering if anyone has experience with staying in San Miguel de Allende, we are looking to stay about 2 weeks in October and are currently looking at Airbnb, but I'm not really seeing much available. Does anyone know of a website or other source for researching lodging in that area?

Also, which are the best areas of the city to stay in?

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Yes, I have visited several times and always had an enjoyable time. Two weeks is a great amount of time, and you can take a few day trips to Dolores, etc...

I would stay someplace within walking distance of the garden principal, the main square. If you do that, you will be within walking distance of many of the main attractions, restaurants, shops, municipal market, etc.......

We used to winter over in SMA when we lived in the PNW, though our most recent stay was pre-covid so it has been a few years.
The center of the very pretty little city, ie the area within a half mile or so of the Parrochia, is all quite nice, safe, relatively level, and easily walkable ... though you do need to take care on the old cobblestone sidewalks if they're wet.
Good neighborhoods that come to mind would be the aforementioned area near the Parrochia - there's a pretty little park directly in front of it that's particularly inviting with numerous little cafes, restaurants and bars to choose from. A bit further afield is the neighborhood around Park Juarez. Another popular area is near the Biblioteca a few blocks north of the Parrochia. It's a haven for the large American and Canadian expat community (snowbirds mostly). There's a very good little restaurant there and they run a number of day trips and tours from the facility. It's also not far from the Mercado de los Artisianas which is fun to explore.
I suspect that the reason you're not seeing more availability on your other search engines is because your trip is only a few months away. It's a popular destination so things tend to book up well in advance ... we're talking 6 months to a year.
That said, I see lots of options on Booking.com that might answer for your purposes, and their filters are quite handy for narrowing things down according to your particular preferences, budget, dates, etc.
Flying into and out of the Guanajuato airport (BJX) would be my suggestion. Flights into Mexico City will be cheaper but more of a hassle than it's worth IMO.
You probably won't need A/C - SMA is high desert above 6,000 ft so things cool down nicely at night for sleeping.
