This years fires burned up to Las Vegas. Access closures will be in place for a while on the west side. I've only visited the Jewish cemetery in town.

Lots of shows to see in Las Vegas. On my one trip there a few years ago, I saw Vegas! The Show (loved it, because I am of a certain vintage) https://www.vegas.com/shows/musicals/vegas-the-show/ . I also saw the Cirque du Soleil show (always a good bet) and really enjoyed the Drag Brunch at Senor Frog. Fremont Street was interesting, as was walking around some of the big hotels, like New York New York, Caesar's Palace, and The Venetian (where we stayed). There's a neon sign museum that looked interesting, but we didn't get to it.

Not sure if you'd be into this, but my daughter and I did a day trip to the South Rim of the Grand Canyon, with stops at Hoover Dam and Seligman. (Loved Seligman.) It was a long day, but we wanted to see the true, iconic Grand Canyon. If you've seen it, or you aren't into such a long day, there's a shorter trip to the West Rim (really an offshoot of the main canyon) with a skywalk.

As for New Mexico, what part of New Mexico? We went to Santa Fe. It was a number of years ago, but some of the things we did would still be available. Some highlights: Museum Hill (3 excellent museums and a good museum cafe), Canyon Road (lots of interesting little galleries), the Palace of the Governors (there was a nice little Native American market along the front of this), and, outside of Santa Fe: Bandolier National Monument (a must see!), and Taos Pueblo. Oh, and on our way back to Albuquerque for our flight home, we stopped at Tent Rocks National Monument.

We didn’t get a chance to stop there but it’s a bit underrated according to what I’ve read.
BB, the OP is asking about Las Vegas, New Mexico and not Las Vegas, Nevada.

The town of Las Vegas, as mentioned in the topic title.

To the OP, sorry but I have never been there. Now if you make it to Roswell or Ruidoso, I might have some ideas.

We always stop there when driving from AZ to CO to eat or stay overnight. Can’t think of anything unusual, special or out of the ordinary about it.
