Kailua-Kona-- Restaurant search

Will be in Kailua -Kona in June for a special anniversary.

Seeking suggestions for a place to have dinner to celebrate the occasion.

In order of importance
1-Good food
2-nice ambience
3- West side of the Island

4- cost is least important ( so long as a 2nd mortgage is not needed) :-)

Thank you

Two people
Car,--Yes
Allergies-No
Week long trip
Staying ~3 blocks from the Hulihe'e Palace ( 'downtown' Kona in my mind)

And to be respectful of Hawaiian culture, I will refrain from attempting to hula.
( as is said on TV newscasts...'some may find this video disturbing')

AND have to tell you of our favorite place in Kona - Huggo's on the Rocks - for happy hour! We get there as frequently as we can!

We like Sam Choy's Kai Lanai in Kahaluu-Keauhou. Mention your anniversary and ask for a table with a view. Congratulations!

How about the Four Seasons Hualalai? Its where I had my special bday dinner - since you have a car.... there are a couple choices there, but I prefer the Beach Tree.

Papa Kona Restaurant & Bar on Alii Drive (main thoroughfare thru Kailua-Kona and very close to the Palace.). Water views and delicious food and live music. My son and I enjoyed our meal together last month.

As someone who visits family in Kona every Christmas, a huge vote for Lava Lava Beach Club. Call and reserve a table right on the sand. It is beautiful, great food. Same management as Huggos but we find Huggos to be over crowded, over priced and poor service. Same company also owns Kais in downtown Kona, which is lovely but less fancy.

My family also likes Papa Kona, I have yet to go.

It's about a half an hour drive north but there is a Tommy Bahama restaurant with fantastic food and views.

We love Tommy Bahama's. We always stay in Mauna Lani so it's a must do for us!

Lava Lava Beach Club. Totally love this place for the setting, table in the sand, lights in the trees, friendly service, live music, view, vibe, and food. There is often a wait, but the waiting area is this really cool lawn with benches, chairs, and drinks. Not intimate, but lively.

hey hey joe32F
going off the other deep end, local style food from old school family restaurants not far from kailua kona
teshimarestaurant.com
up in kealakekua on hiway #11, check their menus for lunch and dinner. family owned for almost hundred years, known for shrimp tempura and local style food. one of my old time favorites. always go for dinner when visiting family
managohotel.com
another family owned hotel/restaurant been around for hundred years with much history. in captain cook on hiway #11, nothing fancy just good homestyle local cooking. on sundays pure kona green farmers market (9a-2p)across street.
konachips.net
in manago hotel building, making fresh chips and other products, stop in for a visit
thecoffeeshack.com
in captain cook on hiway #11. well know breakfast/lunch reataurant overlooking kealakekua bay. gets very busy, be careful with parking and hiway traffic, but gorgeous views.
always check days/times places are open. you'll have a good time and do come back and let us know
hang loose

OMG Princess Pupule, your mention of Teshima’s and Manago brought me WAY back. I even stayed at Manago hotel in the 1980’s while visiting my son, who, at the time lived near Captain Cook, Kealakekua. Nothing fancy, for sure.

Nice memory
