What exactly are you asking?

Your 'lay over' ( where and how long) will be dictated by your airline.

Not really know what kind of 'recommendation" you are looking for

Thank you for your kind reply.
What we are looking at is flying from Vancouver BC Canada to Johanasberg
We would like to break up the flight to climatize to the new up coming time zone before going on 3 safaris.
London was it, but.....
Any suggestions would help.

Kinda Regards,
Jodie Morrison

Logistically it would be London. Most if not all planes from Europe to Johannesburg fly from London (and maybe from Amsterdam).

Here is a site with air options, if you are still looking for flights. https://www.skyscanner.com

I did notice they showed most flights going to Europe, but also had option to fly westbound as well.

Were you planning to have two sets of flights so you could spend a day or two in Europe before going to Johannesburg?

I saw some flights had transfers in Madrid.

You could book a flight Vancouver to Madrid-- spend a day or two and then a separate booking from Madrid to JoBurg and then a booking of Johannesburg to Vancouver for your flight home.

Good luck!

"London was it, but....."

So, what happened to London? What is it that you're looking for in a layover city?

If you want ideas, look at the cities you can fly to nonstop from Vancouver: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vancouver_International_Airport#Airlines_and_destinations

and from Johannesburg: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/O._R._Tambo_International_Airport#Airlines_and_destinations

Look at cities, other than London, that have nonstops from each. Of course, if you don't mind making a connection, the possibilities are endless.

I didn't look closely at those lists, but Paris, Frankfurt, and Amsterdam would work, as they have nonstop flights to both Vancouver and Johannesburg. You may need to buy separate tickets (YVR to CDG round trip on one ticket, and CDG to JNB round trip on another ticket).

Many thanks to you all for generous answers.
Looks like Amsterdam will be just right for this trip.
