Japan Web Form Questions

Well, my trip is in about 6 weeks.

When should I fill out the Japan Web Form? Is it too early?

Can I do it on my computer which I prefer. Or do I need to do it on a. mobile so as to get a QR code?

If I need to do it on a mobile, will I be able to do it on my iPad rather than my Android cell phone?

I do not know what to expect since I have never filled one out.

My experience was that passport lines are long and nothing really speeds the process up very much. Fill out the form in the manner that is most convenient for you.

You can fill it out now. You can do it from a computer. I'd recommend saving the QR code to your phone (save it as a PDF or take a picture of it) in case you don't have internet access when you land and can't access the web page.

As Carol noted, don't expect it to save a whole lot of time. It will save you from having to fill out the paper form upon landing, but you still get in the same lines as everyone else to get your passport checked. Also, expect to get your finger prints taken.

I will add to the recommendation to take a screen shot of the QR code. I was just in Japan and having the screen shot made it easier and less stressful as I did not have to worry about logging in to bring up the code. I just brought up the screen shot and it worked perfectly.

I found it to be a bit easier and quicker than the paper forms (though I guess that may depend on how busy Customs is when you arrive). It seemed to me that about three flights landed pretty much the same time as mine and I was glad to have the QR code as the lines were long and there were quite a few people trying to do paper forms and needing to borrow pens to get it done. I went through relatively quickly which was nice after a 14 hour flight.

I prepped my code a few weeks before travel just to get it done and out of the way.

Thank you adgaliani nd GeoffB

I hear different things from different folks on another site.

Some people have told me to forget the online form and just do the paper form when I get into Haneda: that it won't matter as far as the lines go.

I have seen many other reports where travelers were so glad to have the QR saying that it saved them a lot of time.

I am going to try doing it online and see how that goes. If that does not work, I can do it on paper.

For my trip to Japan earlier this year I completed the form on my iPad. It was very simple to complete. I saved the document (QCR code) on my iPad and also my mobile phone.

With regard to doing the paper form when you arrive at Haneda - it is certainly doable just not very convenient.

Some airlines provide the paper form on the flight, some do not. You can pick one up when you arrive but then you need to step out of the queue to fill out the form. There is no real work station to do this - I saw one table with a crowd of people waiting their turn for space to do the form. And no pens so people were trying to borrow them to get the form done.

In the past, I would do a paper form on the plane to have as back up but didn't bother on my most recent trip a few weeks ago. Whatever you do, I would suggest having a pen with you just in case.

thank you raymon .....

I have an Android Phone and am not good on it since I was trained on an iPhone. Can no longer afford an iPhone and do not want a phone costing so much money anyways.

I do have an iPad and it is good to know that I can fill out form on iPad and get a QR code.

But like you, I might also do it on my phone. I can do things on my phone but find it difficult sometimes. Still I do it.
