Japan announced a new entry program that will be similar to what the EU and UK are planning and what the US does now.
Visitors will have to register online prior to their visit. This should help Japan cut back on illegal immigration and make entering the country easier. Passport holders from 71 visa waiver countries will be affected. This includes the US, Canada, Mexico and the UK, among others.
But before you start more questions such as where do I apply or how much ti will cost, it's just in its initial phases. Japan doesn't expect to implement the new program until 2030.
