My daughter and I will be traveling to Tel Aviv in March. We will spend 4 days in Tel Aviv and are touring Jerusalem and the Dead Sea, while there.
We have three more days and would like to travel to Petra and Wadi Rum, spending two nights in Jordan. Do you suggest a tour out of Tel Aviv? Drive to Eliat and catch a tour from there?
Thanks!
I am so jealous. I love, love, LOVE, Israel. To date no vacation comes close to Israel. I do not have personal experience but my Israeli tour guide recommended TouristIsrael.com because I thought about extending my tour. Looks like they have a very nice three day tour. If you stay in a Bedouin campsite it is a true campsite. Unplugged which I loved. We did have electricity to recharge batteries. Wonderful food. Such wonderful memories makes me want to book another tour. I will go back soon.
Our tour started with a flight from Tel Aviv to Eilat. There our guide looked after the visas and then by bus we continued on to Amman. It was a four day tour and included Wadi Rum and Petra. It was a thrilling four days that I will never forget. We booked through the urban planner group we were with, but it seemed to be a standard tour which no doubt you can find via google.
The guy that wrote the document that is linked by Kaeleku is active on the Trip Advisor forum for Israel, or at least he used to be (I have not been there to check). That forum is very active and has many helpful contributors. Several are tour guides and give great feedback. If you don't get enough answers here, that would be a great place to check.
I am planning to travel to Jordan/through Amman to primarily see Petra. Does anyone have recommendations for transfer from hotel in Amman to Petra and back?
Also does anyone recommend a guide in Petra, or any must-do's while there? I am a good hiker, and can handle the site by foot, i think.
If i add a day and a half to go to Eilat, what should i see there?
I imagine your hotel in Amman could arrange a driver to Petra. Be careful if it is very hot when you are there. My husband passed out from the heat and dehydration as we gazed at the Treasury. The Tourist Police put us in one of the little horse drawn buggies and we were taken back to the hotel near the entrance. Sadly, we never did get to see the rest of the site.
Instead of crossing the border to Eilat (border fees and time-consuming), spend the extra time in Aqaba - same sea, similar beach
