Headed to Taj Mahal soon.
I'd love to rent a Saree for the day --- anyone have recommendations on where I can rent one in Agra?
Just in case you can't find what you're looking for, you might think about purchasing a kurta-and-pants suit while you're there that you could also wear for some special occasions at home as well? These are long tunics over pants, and some of them come with dupattas, a type of shawl. There are some very beautiful designs, and I believe you can find them reasonably priced.
They may be easier or more flattering to wear than a saree?
Just some examples of what they can look like:

thanks for the suggestions.
A sari is not easy to put on properly, or to wear, if you haven't done it before. And involves more clothing items than just the sari itself.
I agree that buying a shalwar kameez (the kurta/pants/dupatta suit) may be more practical, and could be worn at home as well. I bought 2 suits while in Mumbai, as well as both a separate knee length and floor length kurta. Very cool and comfortable to wear when it's hot and humid.
this is great information --- thank you ... I am adjusting my purchasing.
