This trip is a 7-day budget. I was aiming for about $1100 per person for the entire thing, including air (used an Alaska companion fare) I changed my mind about a bit of it - ditched the shared shuttles that criss-cross the country for a private van as I've been getting carsick lately and I'd rather be carsick alone than with a bunch of people. That added about $200 per person. PM me for my blog.
Thanks for posting this! I remember following your Egypt and China trips and really enjoyed it! I loved Costa Rica and look forward to following your adventure!
Is this your first trip to Costa Rica? If so, you will LOVE it!!! We were there last year, and it was one of the most incredible adventures I've ever had. The people were so gracious and friendly. The food was amazing. The country's commitment to ecotourism is truly admirable. And the plants and animals - woah. Once we were outside San Jose, it felt like walking (or riding) through a nature video.
This is a return trip for me but a new destination for my companion. I've also been to Tortuguero, San Jose and Monteverde and loved them all. I was hoping to include other destinations on this trip - Samara, Drake Bay and some others but we only had a week and I felt that this would be a good intro. I'm hoping to convince my partner that Central America can be fun as I want to get him down to Nicaragua - Leon and Granada are at the top of my list and his vision of Central America exists only as the hotel zone of Cancun;)
