Hotel at JFK?

Hi folks,

I'm looking for a clean, comfortable, no frills hotel easily accessible from JFK arrivals. Something along the like of Premium Inn, maybe. Any suggestions?

The only hotel that I am familiar that works out well for JFK is the TWA Hotel, in the old TWA terminal. It has an old airplane inside that is a bar. It is interesting and we have stayed there twice, flying out of a nearby terminal (I think Delta was at #4).

If you do an Expedia search for a hotel at JFK you only get those not connected to the JFK train that connects to all terminals.

The TWA hotel is a bit pricey, we paid almost $400 for a night, but you don't have to take an expensive taxi from the air terminal to your hotel.

There are quite a few hotels near JFK. Each has a free shuttle.

I've stayed at many and in fact just made two more reservations today. These hotels are not cheap.

Note, the shuttles pick up from Federal Circle. To get to Federal Circle, you take the Airtrain to it. It's free. From there call your hotel to let them know you need to be picked up.

The only hotel actually on the grounds of JFK is the forementioned TWA Hotel. No hotel is walkable from JFK including the TWA Hotel unless you are at Terminal 5.

For mid-price range there is the Courtyard by Marriott, Hampton Inn, Hilton Garden Inn, Doubletree, and Fairfield Inn. There are also a Marriott Residence Inn and Marriott Hotel. They are a little mor epxnsive.

Thanks so much! I will check those out. We usually just get a ride share to our son's house when we fly into JFK but we're meeting them out of town this time. And New York is just expensive. Expecting to pay a lot for flights, hotel and rental car :(

When I researched lodgings other than the TWA Hotel, I looked at other hotels near JFK and the reviews that I found MANY that were negative. I didn't see any descent hotels that offered shuttle service.

I found that many of these hotels were used by the city to. house immigrants leading to poor quality. This was three years ago, so perhaps things have changed, but research carefully. Taxis are expensive in the city.

There are plenty of good hotels in Flushing, which is a paradise for restaurants. You can take a taxi to and from JFK.

Marriott, Residence Inn by Marriott, Courtyard by Marriot, Hampton Inn, Doubtree by Hilton, Hilton Garden Inn, etc, etc, etc. (I've stayed in all of them except the Doubletree which used to be the Radisson).

My current hotel of choice is the Marriott Residence Inn. I stay there an average of 8-10 times a year. While it does not have a restaurant--but does offer a nice free breakfast--it's across the parking lot from the Marriott which has both a restaurant and a bar. I was last there in April and will be back again--twice--in July.

The Marriott and the Residence Inn share a free shuttle service with numerous vehicles. You can even download an app that will show you the location of each vehicle and the estimated time of your pickup.

The only hotel housing refugees is the Crown Plaza. I did not recommend it because it is mostly housing non-tourists.

There are a lack of restaurants near these hotels but many have restaurants. If not, food delivery is easy. Why spend $50+ for a taxi both ways to stay at a hotel near LGA when there are perfectly good hotels near JFK.

While you have to go to Federal Circle to get picked up by the hotel shuttles, they can drop you off at the terminals.

Three more hotels are being built near JFK and should open sometime next year.

Thanks, Frank. I got back to book our hotel today and your post was very helpful.
