Honolulu post cruise activity

I would greatly appreciate any and all suggestions for activities upon returning to Honolulu after a cruise when we have a night flight back home. I am beginning to plan for our next summer visit.

Also wondering if anyone has any experience with the Resort Pass program and would recommend a hotel that provides luggage storage and an airport shuttle.
Thank you!

Anne,
I concur with Pearl Harbor/Arizona Memorial and Bishop Museum (fantastic history of Pacific Islanders in a beautiful building!). I believe you need to reserve for the Arizona visit, but when we were there in January 2024, I saw people get walk up tickets. It depends on time of year I think.

Highly recommend advance tickets to the Arizona.

In addition to Pearl Harbor, the Bishop Museum, I recommend, Iolani Palace. Also, there is a free military museum on Waikiki that is very worthwhile.

Anne, Speaking of Iolani Palace. At noon on Fridays in the gardens there is a free concert by the Royal Hawaiian Band, with some hula dancing and vocalists. Lasts about an hour. Get a chair from the place they are stored (on the grounds), and fols up and return after the concert. (I am not sure of the band title, but they are great.)

If you are Marriott Bonvoy members you should be able to use their hotels. Same with Hilton. If retired Military (or still serving) use the Hale Koa.

What to do? Go to the Flea Market at the stadium.

There’s a solid 10 days of high level sightseeing on Oahu, so just pick one or 2 things. To see all 4 Pearl Harbor attractions would take 2 days. Traffic between Waikiki and the airport/Pearl Harbor can make those journeys 1 hour.

Although beautiful and with a perfect climate, I wouldn’t make the haul from the East Coast to Hawaii more than once.

Do you have to fly back home the same day that your cruise ends? There's so much you could do that even an extra couple of days would be great. Personally I wouldn't want the hassle of getting off the ship, getting a taxi/Uber to someplace to store the luggage, getting a taxi/Uber to Pearl Harbor and back to my luggage, and then getting to the airport from there. How much time will that reasonably give you to tour Pearl Harbor and grab some lunch?

Your flight home is the night of the day your ship arrives in Honolulu?

Will you have spent time in Honolulu other than that day?

When is the ship scheduled to arrive?

we loved the Foster Botanical Garden -- it's small but quite lovely and diverse. it would be great if you just want to be outdoors enjoying the air and being surrounded by nature, without having to venture too far.
