Hong Kong Visa recently?

Anyone visit Hong Kong recently that can confirm no visas necessary for US passport holders? The US State dept site says so, but I cant find this info specific to HK from Chinese sources. The situation is just volatile enough that I'm not sure US site is trustworthy.

For what it's worth, found some info on the website of the Immigration Department of The Government of the Special Administrative Region of Hong Kong of the People's Republic of China:

Q1: Do I need a visa/entry permit for visiting Hong Kong?

Nationals of about 170 countries and territories may visit Hong Kong without a visa/entry permit for a period ranging from 7 days to 180 days. For more information on visa/entry permit requirements for visitors to the HKSAR, you may refer to the "Visit Visa / Entry Permit Requirements for the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region" webpage.

While China owns Hong Kong, it still operated as a separate territory. So entry requirements for HK are very different from China proper. So no Visa required; just a valid passport.
Beware that land crossings from Hong Kong into China do require a visa. If you are just visiting Schenzen you can get that Visa at the border on the day of travel. Other parts of China will require an advance Visa from a consulate based in the US.

Thanks folks. I appreciate the confirmations. I'm actually a bit surprised that China hasn't tightened up these requirements given the tensions over there.
