Here's one for visitors to the Garden State

Just spent a few days in New Jersey and drove through several tolls in a rental car. I did some research beforehand just to be safe and I'm glad I did, because at a New Jersey toll station there are only two ways to pay - EZ Pass or cash. No credit cards! Hello Jersey, welcome to 2025 plastic is how we all pay for stuff, but no not there. So make sure you have enough cash in pocket or carefully consider getting the pass along with your rental car. Also be really mindful when pulling up to the toll booths since you have to get into the correct lane for cash and often, to the delight of everyone behind you, you're going to need to suddenly veer 3 or four lanes in either direction.

This is also the state where you don't pump your own gas.

Also the state with a dysfunctional Newark Airport (EWR). that’s in meltdown due to a dearth of Air Traffic Controllers. United Airlines has cancelled flights out of EWR and advises travelers to use other airports due to horrific flight delays.

While totally off topic (sorry Phred), “NATCA, the air traffic controllers’ union, has warned for decades that infrastructure must be rebuilt and modernized,” https://www.travelandleisure.com/newark-international-airport-faa-staffing-delays-11728032

Phred more to your topic, you arent going to have much luck with that credit card in Texas as well .... or with cash.
