A friend and I traveled around the world, meeting up with a couple of friends in Bangkok. The four of us a did the Bangkok Three Sixty Tour by Bangkok Vanguards with guide Michael and a couple from Australia. This was one of the very best tours I have ever done. We saw back alleys of Chinatown where we met locals that Micheal knows. We saw a Chinese temple with a nice 4’6” older female caretaker who blessed us with blessing water. She grabbed the arm of my 21-year-old travel companion and would not let go of it (his red hair and boyish good looks earned him all kinds of compliments from women young and old in Thailand). We saw a Buddhist temple off the tourist path that was full of worshippers, a Sikh community center that offers free meals to anyone who walks in the door (we partook – the food was very good), and a worship service at the community center, too. We visited an artist’s colony that included a business whose purpose is to get young people to be creative souls experiencing and creating art instead of being mindless consumers hanging out in Bangkok’s ubiquitous malls. We ate all sorts of street food. Transportation included a motorboat ride on back canals of the city, a motorcycle taxi ride, a tuk tuk ride, and a train ride. Cool. Cool. Cool. Highly, highly recommended.
