Hi fellow Travellers,
We are beginning to plan a trip to Grand Teton. Can anyone recommend a travel guide that was truly helpful? There are quite a few on the market and I’d love some help suggesting one.
Thanks!

Not a travel guide, per se, but the official website for GTNP is awesome.
When are you planning to travel?
I am hoping to travel next summer. Hope I am not already too late in the planning.
I recommend Moon Yellowstone and Grand Teton.
BTW don't stay in Jackson. Try to get lodging in the park with mountain views. Jackson has no good views.
Well we did stay in Jackson, and were none the worse for the experience. What Jackson lacks in views, it makes up for with excellent restaurants - especially if you've just spent a few days exploring Yellowstone.
This is one of my all-time favorite restaurants:
Estimated Prophet - we also LOVE staying in Jackson Hole - there is a B&B there that we LOVE. The restaurant you linked above is our favorite also and we eat there at least 2-3 times while we are there. There are several great places to eat in JH.
We visited a number of the national parks in the Rockies this summer and used both the Moon 63 National Parks book and Your Guide to the National Parks by Michael Joseph Oswald. The latter book was to get more information about hikes--length, difficulty, etc., but both were helpful. My husband was the chief planner for the trip and was making reservations in late October 2025 for our mid-June through mid-July 2026 trip. Then he went back in November when our British friends decided to join us for the full trip and made more reservations for them. The only place he changed entirely in November was in the Tetons where he got an AirBnb in Wilson since in-park accommodations were gone by late October and the hotel he originally found was ridiculously expensive for what it was. Right now it looks like cabins in Coulter Village are still available if that's the type place you are looking for. Prices for a 4 night stay in a 2 room cabin are comparable to what we paid for the 2 bedroom condo.
We stayed in Jackson in 2020 when lodging in the park was slim pickings. I agree with others here. Jackson has some great restaurants and bakeries and is very walkable.
Not a guide, but the TA forums for Grand Teton and Wyoming are a good source.
Not too late for next summer but I’d go ahead and book something then continue to look if you like. DO carefully read the cancellation policies as they vary and some are quite inflexible.
Do stay on the Wyoming side. Many find more reasonable prices on the Idaho side in Victor or Driggs but you have a long traffic filled commute. Many employees cant afford the Jackson Hole side so have to go over to Idaho so you get in their commuter traffic.
I’ve stayed at Signal Mountain Lodge a couple of times but havent gone down to the Tetons from Yellowstone since 2022 and prices have really increased. Many enjoy the Colter Bay area as mentioned above. Be sure to book directly with them. There are a couple of 3rd party websites that “look official” but are not. They charge a 19% booking fee and have horrible cancellation policies.
Here is the link to the Trip Advisor forum for Wyoming. It is just easier to go into the statewide view than the individual areas. I’m D0bby on there but Grand Teton NP is not my area of expertise.

Editing to add: I just went in to find the official booking spot for Grand Teton Lodging, so here it is. BTW, I was lazy and googled “official lodging concessionaire” and the first hit was one of the 3rd party websites.
Signal Mountain Lodge website:
My suggestion is that you visit your public library and take a look at the travel books for that area. Once you find one that you like, then purchase it. I used the "Moon" book to plan our trip. Another vote for "Bin 22" and we also really enjoyed "Gather"; we were not fans of Gun Barrel Steak and Game; mediocre food and service; tourist trap IMO. Creekside Market was great to pick up sandwiches for lunch before heading into the park for the day.
