GPS rental in Israel

I am planning to rent a car in Israel but the rental car companies either do not offer a GPS option or will not reserve one for me when I make the reservation( subject to availability upon picking up the vehicle). Has anyone else experienced this problem and what would you recommend I do?

Honestly, my only suggestion (unless you know Hebrew) is to use internet driving directions and good up-to-date paper maps. GPS in English is nearly impossible. There is no conformity in the Hebrew-to-English names. They are usually transliterated phonetically but there are so many variations, that it is a hit-or-miss proposition, fraught with frustration. Added to that, sometimes they are literal translations, not transliterations.

And compare the internet directions to the maps. Google maps works pretty well, but it has also steered me way of course more than once here.
