Due to ongoing road construction in the central portion of the Going-to-the-Sun-Road in Glacier National Park, Montana, the road is currently closed to vehicles and likely will be through the next several weeks.
The road is closed on the western side at Avalanche Campground. On the eastern side, the road is closed at the Jackson Glacier Overlook. This means the Alpine section—the most scenic area of the road—is off limits to vehicular traffic.

It usually doesn't open due to snow removal til at least the 3rd week in June and sometimes not til early July. I don't believed it will be closed all summer. They were doing major construction last summer, but kept the road open.

There does appear to be a little construction going on along Lake McDonald, but the road is closed because there is still snow on it that needs to be cleared. Family members will arrive there in about a week, so I am hoping the road will be 100% open very soon.

You should never plan for Going to the Sun Road to be open in June. It just hasn't opened for the season because of the snow on the roads. Road construction is not the reason it is currently closed:)
If you want to go next year and stay in the park, it's time to think about making lodging reservations.
