Planning on going to Miami Masters this March (covid pending). Decided on staying here over Miami Beach, less crowds and cheaper.
Any tips/ suggestions for area? I definitely plan on exploring south beach and Miami Beach, but hoping my homebase is quieter.
We were in FLL last January. We were there a very short time but had one of the best pizzas I've had anywhere. The place was called Mauros. Cannot recommend enough.
The Las Olas area is where most of the restaurants and shops are. If you’re looking for a hotel consider the Riverside Hotel. Nice location, friendly staff, moderate price (for the area). For an old school Ft Lauderdale restaurant go to Foxy Brown. Great seafood (and local color) at the Southport Raw Bar.
We were there 3 or 4 years ago. Stayed at the Drift Hotel. It's a few blocks from the beach and surprisingly cheap. It was renovated but still had a 1950's retro feel to it. https://thedrifthotel.com/
Great meal at Coconuts. https://www.coconutsfortlauderdale.com/ It was loud and crowded, but atmosphere and food was great.
We took a harbour cruise one evening and saw the homes of the rich-and sometimes famous. I'm not talking athlete rich, but hedge fund rich. We also saw J.K. Rowling's yacht on the cruise. If I remember the name of the company I'll edit this post.
