Florida (or other Southeast state) beach-side, dog-friendly cottage/house/hotel - recommendations?

I have looked at the BringFido sites and the such......but also looking for RSForum recommendations, if you have personally rented a beach-side cottage (or even small inn/hotel) where a 40 lb. (would be 7 years old by then) mini-goldendoodle dog would be allowed. (Many places seem to limit to 25lb).

Caveat is that we would like to be able to walk our dog along the beach (on a leash during early mornings/evenings) and NOT at a dog park mixing with off-leash dogs. Many beaches do not allow dogs (for the obvious reasons, as not all dog owners are courteous/responsible.

Two adults/one dog who has completed the canine good citizenship course (but is NOT a certified service dog). Location/at-door parking/cleanliness/excellent reviews will be decision makers. Thinking two weeks for a winter escape. Would also like a community that has patio dining options where said dog would be welcome.

If a "maiden voyage" works out, it MIGHT become an annual winter escape...maybe....trying to figure all that out. I also notice many places require a month-long stay (understandable) during winter months. That "might" be possible for us, but would like to do a shorter trial run initially.

Any personal experience with such a place that you loved??

Have you looked at St Augustine? We were looking there a couple years ago and there were some dog friendly places and a section of the beach that was dog friendly.

We live on St. Simons Island, Georgia, which is great, but staying here would be expensive.

St. Augustine is great and near the ocean, you could find something there.

Jean, thank you. Looks VERY clean and nice. It is fully booked this winter, but will keep it on the radar screen for future years.
