Florida Bahamas Cruise from NY

Hello everyone,
we will be going on a cruise from NY. The ports are Cape Canaveral (Orlando), Nassua Bahamas and Great Stirrup Cay Bahamas. We have decided to do a shore excursion in Orlando as visiting the Kennedy Space Center. If we buy the tickets on our own its about $240.00 for our family without transportation from Norwegian Cruise but if we buy it from the cruise line it is about $555.00 this includes the transportation to and from the port. My question is we only have from 1pm to 9pm which is really about from 2pm to 6:30 pm.... is it possible to catch a cab and have them take us there and get our tickets or is there Uber. the price difference is double so we have some considerations to make.... what do you all think.... btw this is not our first cruise but our first cruise at the mentioned ports....

Where in Orlando are you going? Other than Disney and Universal ( 4 hours way too little for either) not sure there is a reason to go there.

From the Port to Orlando is 55 miles on a toll road. An hour each way, which you seem to have factored in. Have you checked for shuttle bus services?

For the time you have KSC is, to me, a better choice than Orlando

we do not consider any of the theme parks for this port. we are in Port Canaveral and the only option is the Kennedy Space Center, my question is can we do it on our own for half the price or the cruise excursion would be a better idea?

Also in Bahamas we for sure want to do a beach day, which beach is recommended for us to take a taxi cab to? our cruise in Mid August for 7 days...... on the Norwegian Dawn....

js4jw, Re the Bahama stop: You are going to Great Stirrup Cay. This is an island owned by Norwegian. There is (was) a water slide (huge!) and they will have a nice BBQ for you guys. I believe there are excursions (been since 2013 that I went Norwegian. Prefer MSC) like kayaking. If you stop in Ocho Rios Jamaica take the Jamaican bobsled excursion. Most fun I had on that cruise. And it was a great cruise - had so much fun.

We will not have a stop in Jamaica. The only stops are Port Caneveral Great Stirrup Cay and Nassau.

We cruise a lot and always try to find cheaper private tours instead of the overpriced ship's excursions. The cruise critic dot com website has roll calls for your specific cruise. Your can post or read on the roll call about private tours and ask specific questions that others on the same cruise will likely have a quick answer. You have to join cruise critic.

The cruise ship docks at Cape Canaveral, obviously not Orlando. Since you wan to visit the Kennedy Space Center transportation should not be a huge problem. Many private tours will guarantee that you won't miss the ship.

Not sure if your tickets are just to get into the space center or is it a private tour? If the tickets are just for the Space Center, then you need to research how far it is from the port where the ship docks to the Space Center. Then do an internet search for transportation. I have found transport from private transport companies, taxis or bus transport on line. You can do it. Don't pay for the overpriced NCL tour.
