Extra Day in Amman

I taking a tour of Jordan in September 2020 and arriving in Amman a day early. I'll be traveling alone and staying at the Grand Hyatt Amman. Our tour covers Jerash, the Citadel, Archaeological Museum, Roman Amphitheater, Umm Qais, Ajilun Castle, Ajilun Nature Reserve, Petra, Mount Nebo, Deed Sea, Aqaba and Wadi Rum.

My first evening I'll just relax and have dinner at or near the hotel. The next day, I have a full day to myself. I'm looking for suggestions on things to do in Amman. I don't need anything too active and I don't want to see anything I'll see with my tour. I also will be a female alone and wonder if I need to have safety concerns. Any advise would be great. THANKS!!!

Another quick question. Should I get my Visa before I arrive or is it easy to get on arrival at airport in Amman.

I would say wander around the market place during the day. I only passed through Amman (similar to you) on my way to Madaba, Petra, and Wadi Rum so didn't see too much in Amman but found the market place interesting. I don't think you will face the hassles like you would in Egypt or Morocco.

On the visa, I would not bother to get it ahead of time if I could get it on arrival. When we entered Jordan (this is about 11 years ago) we came in overland from Syria and had no issues getting the visa at the border. Again, do your research and make your decision. I have sometimes found that getting a visa ahead of time at some embassies can be more expensive than getting it on arrival.
