Hello Travelers, I am going to be in Tel Aviv for 8 days only for a wedding. Then I am staying in Jerusalem for 2 days. I want to see Eilat. I need recommendations on how to get there, where to stay, and good restaurants. Thank you.
In addition to any replies you get here, take a look at the Eilat section of the Trip Advisor Israel Forum, as it seems to be the most active Israel forum online: https://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowForum-g293980-i3725-Eilat_Southern_District.html
You can fly R/T from Tel Aviv's Sde Dov airport on Arkia or Israir. It's a short taxi ride from central Tel Aviv to that small airport. If you fly in daylight, get a window seat and enjoy the views. Or you could take a 5 hour bus ride from either Tel Aviv or Jerusalem. You should book tickets in advance for the bus, they sell out.
There are many hotels in Eilat and more restaurants. I'm sure you'll find lots of options and reviews on tripadvisor.com
You could rent a car as you leave Jerusalem. It's easy to drive in Israel, and car rental was surprisingly cheap (we paid more for gas than for the car). You can't take the car across the border, but you'd have more flexibility for site seeing along the way. We rented from Eldan (which is Enterprise, I think).
